We all need a good nights sleep to be able to enjoy our life and have the ability to fill it with joy and laughter.

The National Aging and Sleep Foundation, found that as we age our ability to fall asleep becomes harder and our overall REM sleep declines so we wakeup feeling more tired throughout the day and less rested. There is also more of an increase in insomnia.

When we do not get enough sleep we face many health risks:

  • Cardio vascular heart disease
  • Arrhythmias
  • High blood pressure
  • Diabetes
  • Weight gain

Lack of sleep can also cause premature aging due to increased levels of Cortisol.

It can also lower your libido including a man’s testosterone levels.

People with sleep deprivation are more likely to become depressed.
